Stop Feeling Bad For Yourself

We are in a world where many good and bad things happen, but it is our choice of how to act when these situations are presented. The best way to act is to just move past it and be as positive as you can be. (Image by Wavy1 via Flickr)

We've been told that one of the keys to becoming a successful leader and to creating a successful life is to see things as they are and not worse. But if you've been beaten down and suffered setbacks such as unemployment, it's hard to see the positive. If you truly believe that regardless of what you do today, it won't positively impact tomorrow, you are destined to fall short of your potential. Keep the following concepts in mind to eliminate learned helplessness:

1. Start telling yourself things can change. While telling yourself that you also have to start that change and better whatever problem or mishap you may be having an issue with.

2. Think big. Think outside of your self-imposed restraints. If you think big enough, you will have the motivation to take the initial steps and the fuel to keep progressing even in the face of challenges and disappointment.

3. Have endeavors. Once you have goals you will begin to work hard to satisfy those goals which will in turn satisfy you. You have the control.

4. Success in life is vital, so do small thing to achieve this. These small things will get you thinking positive and feeling better. You will be able to eventually move up to bigger and better things.

5. Being pessimistic won't help you any in trying to feel better and think better. You have to look and see that there are many viewpoints and that you are just looking at one. Start trying to look at the others and you will see that you could probably take another route to achieve or do whatever it is that you are doing.

You do have influence over your life. Even if you don't believe it right now, act as if you do. Start small so you can begin to see how your actions produce results.
